Oh, hi. If you're coming by here, you probably are looking for something delicious. These days, I'm baking over at The Midwife and the Baker, you can find our tasty treats at a bunch of local markets and coffeeshops.

Who?
Jen (the Smith)
Jen is a perfectionistic control freak and engineer. She loves dogs whose heads are hanging out the windows of cars, children who have clearly dressed themselves, the color purple, both eating and baking pie, and taking everything out of kitchen cabinets, cleaning them out, and putting everything back inside.
She believes that if there is an intentional colony of something living in the fridge it deserves a name and respect.
Huckelberry da Wry
Huckleberry likes intense conversation with friends, rye flour, keeping a stiff upper lip, and being kept at 60% hydration. He secretly likes you, but he will never tell you that himself.
Buford da Sour
Buford likes eating, reproducing, and burping. Buford is a simple but loyal friend who is happy as long as he has space to spread out and relax.

I believe that bread and pastry are at their best when fresh, local, and slightly inefficient and at their worst when they have been engineered to be efficient, mundane, and shelf-stable.

I feel that sometimes we've made the wrong decisions about food. Cut the wrong corners. So, I'm adding some corners back on. I'm taking things slow and seeing where I end up.
